Egy ürgebőr margójára

2015/08/27. - írta: Vitzus

Ha a mai magyar metalzenekarok külföldi népszerűségét nézzük, a Wisdom mellett (előtt, mögött) bizony ott sorakozik a Dalriada is a dobogón.

http://langologitarok.blog.hu/2011/01/29/borotvapenge_furdokad_klipmegosztas

http://langologitarok.blog.hu/2011/02/22/az_ellenallas_melankoliaja_a_dalriada_es_a_korpiklaani_uj_lemezei

http://index.hu/kultur/zene/fesztival/2011/08/15/menyetborbe_csomagolt_parasztmetal/

Otthont mutat a fény.
Gonosz átok vére verje,
Köd, ború elûzve messze,
Nóta szárnyra, harc feledve,
Otthont mutat a fény.

(Dalriada - Védj meg, Láng!)

Vagy mondjuk ez:

Dal szólalt meg, szél-virágok muzsikája,
nyár jött, édes, egekig érő szava-násza.
Így lett gazdája pusztának-rónának,
Aranyos Szegletnek, e világ szép Hajnalának.

(Dalriada - Napisten Hava)

Vagy éppenséggel ez:

Szálljon dal, nyíljon az égre fel hajnalvirág
Jöjjön, melegével a világot ölelje át
Bánatos szívem fogadd most be,

4polo.png

Lángoló gitár helyett most Léggitár: http://leggitar.blog.hu/2015/08/20/rendhagyo_metalos_polo

Cink: http://cink.hu/polora-nyomtattak-az-indexes-sixx-szoveget-es-penzt-cs-1725823506

A fajtája szerintem élvezi a szájkaratét.

Meg az Amorphisék megengedték, hogy kérdezzek tőlük ezzel kapcsolatban, so I got that going for me which is nice.

__________________________________________________________________

(Szia, Vica vagyok! Milyen Vica? VIZOVICA!!)

A legjobb koncertet természetesen a Nightwish adta, most láttam őket először a tökéletes Floor Jansennel, és minden percét imádtam.

Kislányos-kistinis fangörlboldogság level over 9000, gondolom mondanom sem kell.

Oké, fangörlködés over.

Mutatok azért pár képet is a MoR-ról, hogy lássátok, mennyire kulturálatlanok voltunk.

A képekért köszi a készítőknek, talán Jenke és Szög... :)

Katt a képre, galériát készítettem. :)

A fenyőfák bámulása után kicsit itthon voltam és csakhamar pakolhattam is a következő cseh fesztiválomra, a Made of Metal-ra! Mit is mondhatnék, a hodoníni fesztivál igazi dream come true volt! Nagyon jó volt a társaság, a fesztivál picike, a sör finom és olcsó, a kaja is okés, a kemping fasza, a sátorhelyünk tökéletes, a zenei felhozatal pedig teljesen nekem való... Mintha valaki személyesen nekem akart volna kedvezni, komolyan! :)

#mulatási Turisason! Csináltam egy hatalmassá dagadó wall of deathet a leginkább wall of death után kiáltó folk metal dalra: Rex Regi Rebellis! :)

These days of studiment

:) Budapest ♥

Második nap is ezen felbuzdulva elindultam, a BTK "kocsmájába", a könyvtár klubba, ahol egy nagyszerű szuper jól kinéző jeges kávéval doppingoltam magam...

Holnap aztán úgyis bemegyek a mekibe... :)

A vacsorám...

http://korkep.sk/cikkek/kultura/2015/05/05/25-mediawave-fesztival-avagy-woodstock-ujrateremtve

Tetszett a koncert. :)

:) Természetesen selfieztem a Budapest-betűkkel :D

0000.jpg

2015/04/16. - írta: Vitzus

Élvezd, hogy süt a nap.

Nézz a tiszta, kék égre.

Megteheted.

Kicsit túlpörgettük a parking lot partyt a pár finnel. Ja igen, mert hogy ismét finnek... :D

Russia report - second part

2014/11/07. - írta: Vitzus

So my report is so fucking long it doesn't fit into one blogpost. Here is the second part:

They started again with Nagrjanuli and during it Ksenia started staring at me, looking at my face whether she sees right.. and I smiled at her and then she was sure it was me and showed me this international 'you're crazy' sign – meaning that it is me again, and I am crazy for doing so. Well, I am, but in a good way, and it was very worth it. On this concert we were less people, but kind of higher in spirits.. There wasn't any moshpit but we were running around like a train and had some circle dances and I just danced around like there was nobody – on this concert I felt very, very free. Of course the first time of seeing a band is always something very special, but apart from that, this second concert was better for me – I really felt free, relieved on the concert, and just gave myself to the music and danced, and was, once again, very-very happy. They also played more songs: there was Gde tvoja nochevala pechal, Son-Reka, Vedma in bonus and Ladushka wasn't played. Also, Ksenija proposed Gorsti Talogo Snega, and I was very happy, because it is the first song I heard from the band and it would have been awesome to hear it. Would have been. The crowd started cheering 'pidmanula, pidmanula' indicating they want to hear the Ukrainian song 'Ti zh mene pidmanula' that Kalevala covered... So there it was, the band agreed to the wishes of the majority, and they played the song. It includes woman and man singing, so all woman singing was sung by Ksenia and the man singing – each verse by another band member, the microphone being carried from one member to the other by Ksenia, it was very funny and special.

I enjoyed it – but still, I would have preferred Gorsti Talogo Snega, but you can't have everything.

So the songs more or less: Nagrjanuli, Gde Tvoja Nochevala Pechal, Kalevala, Goj Olen, Milij, Batka-Ataman, Uletaj na kryljah vetra, Vedma, Kukushkini Deti, Milij, Son Reka, Korochun, Ti zh mene pidmanula, Dohu ja kupila

From the concerts I mostly missed Svarozhja noch, Tausen-Rada, Tanec dikogo vetra, Kupalskaja noch, Gorsti talogo snega, U razbitogo koryta, Kamyshovaja tropa, Rechka; more or less, if anybody's interested. And acoustic songs. I would have loved to hear something in acoustic, I just love their acoustic stuff.

Also on this night there were more people coming to talk to me, everybody was very nice and patient for my poor Russian, some people even helped me choosing from the menu when I was indecisive, they themselves just turned to me and started to help! So nice!

The concert was still amazing, and after it I just went to eat something finally, I had a very nice soup and some french fries, the pub served food at a very nice price, so I sat down to eat and so I was joined by the band on the benches and we just started to talk. We mostly talked about everyda things, mostly with Nikita and I got to have some more conversations with Denis the drummer (that sounds like some character name from some tale :D), and Aleksej the new bassist, and Ksenija just said privet to me first and then I didn't know what to tell but then we started talking.. She asked me how did I travel and I said with bus.. And she was like.. Oh damn, I could have come with them, they had a free place in their minibus. Well fuck. Had I know, that would have been the most awesome trip of my life. But well, I just made the decision like 6 hours before concert start. But if I found out they would have a place for me to Pskov already in SPB, it wouldn't have been such a long decision making, but an instant yes, hahahaha.. :)

I had pleasant conversations with everybody and took some pictures, and spoke a loooot of Russian! I didn't really realise until now that I am able to hold a conversation in Russian but this week really showed that I am, I am happy haha:))) I asked a guitar pick from Nikita and after it Ksenija told the guys to fetch a mug from the merch for me, thank you very much!:) Denis even put me into his blog, and yes, I hope we will see each other soon again, we have to, neobezatelno! http://den_logik.livejournal.com/2602.html

Then the guys had to start leaving home, so we hugged goodbye. Shortly after I asked the barman to call a taxi for me, and so he did. After he said the type and number plate of the car of my taxi – something I never experienced, but instantly undertood. First, the car didn't have this taxi thing ontop, and well, in Soviet Rrrrrussia you don't just sit into a random car. So I asked the guy to take me to the bus station which he did for 2 euros and then I looked around with the buses and found out I have to buy the ticket. I planned to go on the bus at 1.am, but I got a ticket for the 1.30 because the one before was full. There were huge international buses coming and going all the time and after some time mine also arrived. As I didn't have any motion sickness pills I just took two Paracetamols and hoped for the best... On the journey I was listening to music, chatting on VK with Denis, trying to sleep but it just didn't happen, but I was enjoying the travel – now it was a biiig big bus, not like the way there, where I could actually lie down to 3 (4) seats! :D And still, didn't sleep. :(

7. Good morning, Sankt-Petersburg & pörkölt a la soviet style

We reached SPB in the morning, I found a bus on the way home – the metro wasn't open yet at 6 in the morning. With the bus I reached Budapesthskaja street – yes, I was staying on the corner of Budapest street and Danube street :) I got off, and started walking – in the wrong direction. So I ended up getting very lost, and very-very far away from my place... But I didn't care, it was super warm, like 8*C, I felt the happiest person in the world after this awesome night, I enjoyed my walk, my heart was singing (no, not at all a Kalevala lyric-reference ;) ), and decided not to take the bus home, but keep on walking, no matter how much it takes. I felt free and independent. Not the independence I have here, in Tallinn, on Erasmus, but real independence, when you have no plans, and no borders, nothing. I went into a 24 h shop, bought a nice juice, drank it, walked, walked, walked and walked, when it started downing. I found a McDonalds halfway, I went in to have some breakfast, it was very nice. I continued my journey and after an alltogether hour of walk (or more? Who knows? Who cares?) I reached 'home'. It was already 8 o'clock and I decided not to go to bed anymore.

It was my last day in Sankt Petersburg, and I still haven't made any normal sight seeing in the city center and I promised to cook for my hosts so there was no time for me to waste. For me. I took my laptop to the kitchen so as to not disturb one of my hosts with making noise and was on the internet for hours, accompanied by a can of energy drink... And waited... And started to get nervous... My hosts only got up when it already past noon and I was just waiting there, knowing that I should cook, and I really want to see the city, I want to spend there hours, I have two friends to meet still, and museums and sights to see... But well, they are my hosts, they were nice to me, and they gave me accommodation, the minimum is that I have to be respectful towards them! But then they finally got up, right away I started cooking just to find out that after three days of discussing this they didn't buy the chicken to the food. But then everything was there and I made the food in a kitchen with almost no space, so it was a complicated quest but you know what? The final result was very tasty, I dare to say!

So I ate, packed my things (omg, this was super hard, I bought so much merch and souvenirs, and had the same amount of bags, which got really have) and met with Anya, upon agreeing on VK. She is a very nice girl, showed me a place where I could store my baggage, a rock shop, and we finally went to seethe Spilled blood church, the State Hermitage, the Winter Palace and some other nice places, but it already got dark and the Hermitage was closed, fuck it. Of course, I wouldn't exchange my Pskov concert for this, but this last day should have gone completely differently... I also didn't manage to go to this shop selling contemporary clothing with folk motifs, which would have been awesome... But well...

We roamed around some hours, then I went to the Moscow Train Station, where my things was, had dinner, met with another girl for a short chat, did some shopping and it was already time to run for the bus station. First I had too many free hours, but then, again, I started worrying that I wouldn't get there on time but fortunately I did... I sat to the bus, and luckily fell asleep, felt a lot during the journey. On the border t
hey were disturbing us 50 minutes, but then we got through. On the bus here it was too hot and now it was almost too cold but it was still better for sleeping so I slept nicely, only that we stopped too many times and for too long in Estonia... And then around 5 we got home... No public transport yet... Called a taxi, went to bed, slept until noon and woke up very happy...

8. 'Outro'

This trip really loaded my happy receptors with a huge load, for a very long time. I spent very much money, I don't even dare to think about it – but I really was having the of me life, so let's just forget about it and consider it worth it – because it was worth it! There is just too many factors to it, it is not easy to organise them neatly. Of course, I have been a fan of Kalevala for like 3-4 years by now, I really like them, and it seemed such an unreachable dream to see them – and now I got to do it. Without Him, but still, it was just such a happy experience. I love concerts, but these years the experience and usedness started to kill the fun, and I wasn't enjoying concerts that much, but Kalevala's music is meant to be played live and entartained with. I just love this band with all my heart – this is what I felt during these days – big, big love to them. How is it even possible to love music so much, in such a very deep and emotional way? :)

The second thing is the very, very warm welcome I got. I already mentioned some of this – many people engaged into conversations with me, everybody was just incredibly helpful, I didn't hear a bad word during all the trip from anybody. Russians are very emotional people, wilder, but warmer, heartful, 'dushevny', and... did I ever tell I got a very warm welcome? Also on the concert in SPB, everybody was interested in me, asked me questions, listened to what I had to say, was happy to meet me, and really made me feel like at home. It is hard to describe. I will need to visit my VK profile more often, because I just got many new Russian friends during this short trip. Russian men still dare to walk up to a woman and engage into a conversation. :)

The third thing, that still makes me unable to live my daily life after the trip is the freedom and independence I experienced. The real freedom, when you are not bound by everything, but everything at all, when any minute you can decide what you want to do, when you have a lot of free time for yourself, and you with it whatever you want, when you are responsible for yourself, but to nobody else.

When you have a chance to make yourself happy... Of course this happiness is seasoned with some weird bitter nostalgy of what is gone, that is why right now it is very hard to listen to the song Volch'ja by Svarga around 3:10, it is just turning a knife in my soul...

I got to live my dreams, and I can only wish that others would also get such a chance, who works hard, deserves it!

1. Night thoughts that led to a visa

It all started on the 24th of July 2014, short after midnight, when I messaged Nikita Andrijanov on Facebook. He is the composer and guitarist of the Russian folk metal band called Kalevala.

Kalevala also happens to be one of my favourite bands, but they never play in Europe, they are not that famous here. Because of this, I usually just spend hours having fun on Youtube, “wasting” long hours by watching their concert videos, and the best – their acoustic performances... Same was happening on that white summer evening... but then it hit me: “From September to December I will be living in Tallinn, Estonia, which is very-very close to the Russian border in general, and also super close to the Russian metropole, Sankt-Petersburg... What if...” I asked him whether they would have any concerts there in the autumn-winter period. And yes. Kalevala, 2nd of November, SPB. I AM GOING TO RUSSIA. The theoretical decision was made very fast, as I was sure that one of my biggest music-related wishes was to see Kalevala live...

Fast forward to September... Russian decision still only in theory, I thought of going by ferry because you can be in SPB as a tourist for 72 hours, but that ferry thing seemed complicated and expensive, but I was having that plan anyway... And then I found this bus company called Lux Express who go between Tallinn and SPB for 15-20 eur one way. How nice, but then I need a visa. And then accidentally (really), I saw a travel agency offering Russian visa... A two week visa 70 eur... That's a shitload of money, but still within the affordable range... So I went to ask information and I found out getting hold of a Russian visa in Estonia as an EU citizen is super simple – you need to fill in a paper, bring your passport, a document photo, pay (try not to cry while doing so) 70 eur and wait 10 days... And then I was there, having my tickets, having the visa, counting the days and trying to get an accomodation. I really didn't feel like paying for it, and staying at an actual person feels much more close-to-human (what a beautiful mirror translation from Hungarian), and I have hosted more people so I decided to give a try to couchsurf. Luckily I found a guy who lives with his future wife and could host me for all the nights.

On the 30th of October I got up around 7.30, went to class, received my Russian exam and my essay – a C and a 16/20, respectively, on a level B2 so I was pretty happy. Came home, started to pack my bags and organise my things, went to class again, went to have a nice dinner and buy food and things like that for the journey, finished packing, and around 23.30 I was already on the bus station of Tallinn. I still couldn't believe I was going to Russia, seeing Sankt-Petersburg written on the display and on the bus didn't help too much either. I suppose I was very nervous because during all the journey, I just couldn't fall asleep. Around 3 in the night we reached the Russian-Estonian border, and spent there around a beautiful 1,5 hours. Passport check, again, and again, then off the bus with the packs, another passport check, a stamp to the passport, then checking the stamp in your passport... It was horrible. Didn't manage to fall asleep after this either.

2. Soviet Russia welcomes you

I was supposed to arrive to the Coach Station around 8 in the morning (which is 7 in Tallinn, and we spent a lot of time on the border, so it is not a long trip in that way) and so I told my host. But around 6 in the morning we were already in SPB, and we got off at the Balkanskij station. It was cold, I was tired, I hated the world, I felt like a zombie and I wasn't even happy I was in SPB. It was dark and I felt lost, but luckily I found the passage to the metro, and having a metro map, I found my way to the metro station Kupchino, the one closest to my host's place of living. The only problem was that I thought we would arrive to the city at 8 and I told him that we can meet around 9-10. And around 6.30 I was already pretty close, and well, if somebody accepts to host you, it is not a good first thing to do to wake them up, but until 9 it was a shitload of time. So I decided to send him an SMS and see what happens. Luckily I found one fast food place that's open (the metro station Kupchino has a huuuuge commercial center, with a shopping mall with a size of a city – only that it opens at 10), went in, bought a Kvas, put down my things (running around spending time would have been especially inconvenient because I had like 3 bags, and not really lightweight), sat down at a table, opened my laptop and as there was no wifi, I actually started watching a movie (Dancing with wolves). But already after like the first 15 minutes of it, my host messaged me back that he could come pick me up – I was very happy, I was already imagining that I would be watching all the 3 hours of that movie in that fast food place.

He appeared shortly and we took a trolleybus to their place, pretty close to the metro station. We talked a while, he was very nice, but then I indicated that I really actually would like to go to bed. And then what almost never happens, happened – I managed to fall asleep in daylight, with noises and moving around me – I really had to be super tired. Then around noon something woke me up (or did I have alarm? No acuerdo), which was good, because I wouldn't want to spend all my first day in SPB sleeping. So I decided to set foot to the city, first I discovered the area where I was staying – soviet buildings, just like at home, and many shops and restaurants. I got to this shopping mall, and found a nice Georgian restaurant and ate a very nice soup (of course it had dill, everything has dill in Finland AND in Estonia AND in Russia.. I used to hate it and feel like puking from the smell even, but now I guess I just got acostumbrado to it), which turned out to be too little so also enjoyed a typical Russian Chickenburger at Макдоналдс. Then I went to the city center, to the Petrogradskoe metro station and searched for the Phoenix Music club where the concert would take place and bought my ticket, and also found out that the day after the concert there would be Equilibrium playing, but for a crazy price of 24 eur (the 10 eur I paid for the ticket of the mini festival of 5 Russian bands also seemed much for my Hungarian standards but of course I was happy to pay it this time :D).

3. Sights to be seen

Then I went to Nevskij prospekt – since the time I read the same titled novel by Gogol, I really wanted to be there and also just walked on it. Read it guys! (Un?)fortunately by the time I got there it got dark (it's late autumn, you know), but the lit buildings were beautiful and I was really enjoying my walk. Only that I had no idea where I was, just the street name, but it was enough. I really wanted a hot chocolate in a nice café with a beautiful view on the avenue, even if it is 8 eur (which is more like 4 eur in this country :D), but ended up in a not so fancy café that was out of hot chocolate and ate some nice cake. :)

T
hen tiredness started to hit me again and there was not much to do anymore anyway, so I decided to head back to my place. On the way I stopped in a souvenir shop, individually chose and bought postcards for Abel, Adela, Regina, FeelGood Hostel, and myself, and also bought SPB-themed calendar. I went home, started writing a blog post but I just couldn't keep myself up and went to bed.

Next day I decided to visit Tzarskoe Selo, in the village Pushkin (also used to be called Tz. S. but then Pushkin wrote a deal of important pieces of literature there so it got renamed.) Another place that I was interested in because of my literature classes, I am such a nerd. This is a beautiful place, full of beautiful castles, like the Catherine Castle and the Alexander Castle. I decided not to pay any of these overpriced tourist trips, but as always, with the whole trip, organise things myself. Kupchino is actually pretty close to Tz.S, so I took a suburban train and was there in 15 minutes or so, for a very cheap price. Then I quickly found the city bus taking there, asked some help from the locals and then not so much time after, I started seeing the beautiful buildings. It was magnificient! A guy was playing flute inside the park and it was just so beautiful – the nice sights, accompanied with soul soothing classical music...

The queue to Catherine castle seemed huge, but I quickly found out it goes fast and the price for getting in is not expensive at all so I decided to get in. It was very nice, very tzarish and grandiose. I liked it but the tour took too long and in the end I was just tired and hungry so I went to some fancy restaurant to eat a quiche (киш, of course :D) for like 6 eur and it was nice and the bathroom was nice and I stole a minitowel. Then I continued my walk, saw some more nice buildings and realised that it has to be around 0*C because the lake was partially frozen. I got so surprised and it seemed so much warmer, first I thought that the layer of the lake looks different, because it is dirty, I had to touch it to believe it is ice! :D I got very tired, even though I only saw the Katherine park, then got a boiled corn, took a quick look at the Aleksander park (was that even the name of the other one?) and went home... On the way home I found this shop what we call 'one euro shop,' here it was 37 roubles (65 cents). These shops are great because they are very diverse, and you get all kinds of useful and useless shit for a very cheap price so I decided to go and see what they got.. And came out with a cheese cutter, a lipstick, earrings and hair clips, all for some super cheap price.

Next day I was very nervous, excited, and just everything! I agreed to meet a girl I found on VK before the concert, an hour before we had lunch, tea, and went to the venue and another guy (he is very nice, likes Hungarian and actually came to Hungary to see some Hungarian bands.. :)), who I met from VK was just there interviewing Nikita and I was almost getting into a long-time-no-see fangirling mode. I went closer to the door where I got recognised by somebody 'You're the girl from Hungary, no?' - I just wrote a message on Vkontakte, on the Russian Facebook, and some people remember me. :) I said yes in a very high enthusiastic voice.. :P

Quickly after the interview we went for a tea to a food place nearby, because there still was some time left until door opening time. We just arrived back to the venue right on time, when the first band, Emerald Forest was the first band.

They performed without a drummer, which was pretty weird at start but after it my attention went to music, because the guys played very well. Although I was very excited, just running all around, meeting people from VK, hanging around the merch table, I just couldn't stop myself. Got a slovak Zlaty Bazant dark beer for an incredible price of like 6 eurs, and was running around, talking to people, and being so excited that I could not stand in one place. I bought Kalevala CD-s, a tshirt, a magnet of the festival, and made pictures with Nikita.

The next band was Woodscream who I actually started listening to some days before the concert – as a part of the 'pre-concert-self-education', and I liked the songs... It is like Eluveitie with cyrillics. Their concert I actually joined and headbanged and jumped in the front row. I didn't like all the songs, but generally they are a very nice band and the crowd was crazy about them, shouting 'Vuudskriiiim'. Leshak was the next band, who I kind of forgot to look up, but I went to buy a Woodscream CD (for like 4 eur :D) and a Svarga one, I started to like them. :) Leshak is like the Russian Trollfest, but I didn't really like them, but as I was so excited, time was going fast, and I was chatting with people at the merch. :)

When Svarga was entering the stage, I got myself into the front row again, and they started with a song I really like, so it cheered me up and overall the concert was also very good, I sang along a lot. :D The singer was reading almost all the lyrics from a paper :(

After Svarga my heart beat was speeding up and I couldn't believe that I am actually going to see Kalevala live, after all these years... But then the soundcheck started, and it was getting real. I was talking to my friend and met another girl in the front row, who was also going crazy and it was also her first concert.

But then it was happening! Ksenia came to the stage and the intro of Nagrjanuli from the latest album started, and the guitars started playing and it was on... I felt this 'I am going to cry' kind of happiness, it was unbelievable, unreal, incredible, but then I didn't cry, I was like a three year old at Christmas... A huge party started with all of us jumping, dancing, moving around like crazy and headbanging... I was just so happy to hear those familiar tunes and see those people on stage... They continued with hits like Goj, Olen, Kalevala, Kukushkini Deti and I was dancing like crazy and just having an awesome time, during some song I actually needed to run out for filling a random ex beer cup with water and drink it so I wouldn't die and shared it with the girl next to me... It was just so awesome, but then it was over waaaay too soon... The concert was a bit interesting because I even kind of felt sorry for the band, the crowd was kinda lame... I suppose they got tired during all the nice support bands, which is no wonder. But still, the crowd was super silent, I was going crazy at every song announcement, and shouting, alone. And when they left the stage, people seemed so indifferent... :O It was weird. But there were moshpits, and I think I was during the song Batka-Ataman that I reaaaaally felt that I just need to go to the moshpit that was happening behind me. There were maybe 8-9 guys moshing (yes, only guys, a Russian friend said that in Russia it is very-very unusual for girls to mosh), and I joined them, and for like the first twenty seconds there was a guy trying to hold me and 'rescue' me out of the pit, but I just kept going back – wtf dude, I DO want to mosh, haha – of course it was nice of him that he wanted to rescue me, only that I didn't want to be rescued... :) During Milij and Ladushka I phoned My Miliy and on another song I also moshed... Mostly I was just jumping around in the front row :D

After the concert everybody went to the backstage entrance and hoped for their luck to get a picture or a signature from the band I also was walking there and Nikita came out and pointed at me and called me into backstage to take a picture with them, so nice of him! It felt very nice that he cared about me and invited me inside for the picture, he was
searching for me and wanted to make sure I get the picture without me asking... Just felt very very nice. So we took a pic and then I got sent out of
backstage but soon went back to get atleast one of my newly acquired CDs signed and so I did. Then I started chatting with one of the guys from Svarga and we had a very nice chat, and soon everybody around me started talking about 'Eh, girl from Hungary, living in Estonia, speaks Russian and came here... WHAT? TO SEE KALEVALA?! UH', and all this. And I was talking with these people and everybody was just so very nice during all night. I just got such a very very warm welcome!

The following songs were played, in different order: Nagrjanuli, Kalevala, Kukushkiny deti, Tausen-Rada, Jarilo Ladushka, Milij, Batka-Ataman, Goj Olen', Uletaj na kryljah vetra, Korochun, Dohu ja kupila

5. Ne uspeyu!

I was staying a bit more at the venue, hoping that maybe some kind of afterparty would happen, but what was happening instead was the following disco and bad, loud electronic music happening and the disco guests appearing, and everybody from us leaving home. So I also went in front of the venue, already being nervous because I thought that it is just the time for the last metro going... So everybody was encouraging me to “Run, this is your last chance”, so I went for it. Ran ~600 metres in like 1*C cold, then finally reached the metro, almost didn't find my wallet, but then after this crazy hurrying I got into the metro! I don't even want to go to details how incredibly wet my pullover was and all... Running in winter coat and so :D

I sat on the metro and I was just very, very, very happy. How can a band, music, and such things mean so much. I was overwhelmed and couldn't believe this dream come true. I have seen many bands, met a shitload of musicians, had many stories in backstage and tour buses, and I don't get any musician-anxiety but seeing these guys, who until now felt just simply unreachable, was really something special...

I reached my hosts' place, and was completely 'drunk from happiness' (we have this expression in Hungarian, it just soooo fitting!), hyperactive, smiling all the time and didn't fall asleep until my hosts didn't, went to bed around 5 and got up around noon. That day I planned to go to the historical center of Sankt-Petersburg, see the Hermitage, the Winter Palace and things like that, go into museums and so... But then I was browsing Vkontakte and saw that this day Kalevala is playing in Pskov, which is also very close to the Estonian border, pretty close to Tartu. I was really sorry because if I knew about this concert earlier, I could have organised my trip in a different way – Tallinn – St. Petersburg – Pskov – Tartu – Tallinn, and going home that way, but I didn't... So I kind of accepted, that I am not going to Pskov. Or didn't I? The idea of that maybe I should just go there started to get born in me, but I didn't really believe it... But then a friend from yesterday was helping me with buses and soon I found out that I can go there by bus, and most important, I have a bus back in the night, so I can come home after the concert! Let me quote some of my chat conversation around 2 p.m. 3rd of October

Guess who is on a bus to Pskov. But why are we not moving yet..

So yeah, this was it... I felt very crazy and very insecure about making this decision... But well, the reasons are listed above... If I am in Russia already and have this opportunity, I really should grab it... So I went for it... Only problem was that my bus left at 16.00 and arrived to Pskov at 20.00 and Nikita said they would start the concert at 20.00, or probably 20.30 because concerts there are always late... So I was already a bit worried about all this... I packed my things very quickly, and went for it... My bus was going from the Moskovskaja metro station+square, and which was just 3 metro stops away from Kupchino but my hosts recommended me to go by bus because it is faster, and there was absolutely no time for me to waste – I had one hour left until the bus and I would have loved to buy something to eat because I haven't eaten the whole day. I was stupid and I accepted their advice, and went searching for the buses, which are unknown to me, opposed with the metro that I already know :( So, of course, I managed to get lost, I got on the wrong city bus, which was taking me away into aaaaabsolutely no foken idea where...

But then I had luck... You will see that during this day I had a HUGE luck with everything, starting with having a night bus back, or well, more accurately, buses all night every hour! On the bus some locals started helping me when they realised I was pretty lost and am on the wrong bus, an older lady and man was telling me where I need to get off and which bus to take next... Then they got off and I thought the next would be my stop, I started getting off but another man told me (in formal form, calling me vy, not ty, even tho we were same age - but this is Russia, and not Hungary, you talk formally to strangers. First this was weird to me, but then I even started liking it.) that it is not my stop yet, I should wait one more. When we got there he pointed me to my next bus stop out of the bus window... I was so nervous, I had a bus in 30 minutes in a place don't know, and I had no idea whether I was far or close to it...!! So I got off the bus, run to the bus station, and a marshrutka (a taxi-bus) came, I quickly asked whether it stops in Moskovskaja... It did! So I just got on it! I asked, and it would be in 5 minutes as the driver said, and I asked him to announce when we are there. And so he did, I thanked him very much, got off at this huge square and had no idea where to go... I walked around, searching for bus stop looking things, even asked help on VK but then I spotted a place with more buses parking and decided to run there to check out the things – 15 minutes being left. I saw that there really are many buses parking, and a bigger group of people waiting. I went to two of them, and apologised for such a question, but asked: which bus are they waiting for, where are they going? And they said . PSKOV!!!

I was so happy I kind of jumped from happiness that I found the place. I asked whether it is a problem that I don't have a ticket, because of course I didn't have, they said it is no problem, because nobody has, but asked me whether I booked a seat... Well I didn't... But they said it should be ok, because the bus is big... So in 7-8 minutes a MINIBUS arrived, with like 18 seats, and I was almost sure the people wouldn't fit in so I kind of pushed everybody to the side and went onto the bus among the firsts... And realised that I only have one motion sickness pill left and I have no idea what would I do on the way back... But well, that was the problem for another day. Fortunately I fit on the bus also with all the people having reservations but people kind of started shouting with the driver because he only got to the bus around 16.30, so half an hour late and he was shouting back and I was like wtf... Being half an hour late wasn't exactly happy but finally we started the journey... Going often with like 70-80 km/h only, I was so nervous, it really felt we would never reach Pskov... Fortunately I was in contact with Nikita because there was wifi on the bus. In Soviet Russia. And I was keeping him up how far we are from the city and kind of started to tell him not to start the concert until they see me, not that I miss a part of the concert but then he told me they are also arriving later because of some problems so for me it was a pretty happy news. What a luck!

Then, of course, the next problem came: I had no idea about the city of Pskov, I only wrote up the address of the club and some taxi numbers, and hoped I could get there on time with some taxi. And then I had luck again! I posted on Facebook that I was travelling to Pskov and one of my Facebook friends commented that she is actually sitting with a girl who happens to be from Pskov and she is happy for me going there... And then I started asking her questions about the city, taxies, and so... He gave her his phone and we started chatting. She helped me an incredible much! She told me which buses take me to the club from our final stop, which stop I need but soon we found out that as the bus is going to the final station actually stops at that city bus stop! First I didn't dare to ask the driver to stop there, because he didn't seem nice at all, and I didn't know this is veeeery normal to do in Russia, but when he saw I am worried, asking him questions about routes, he asked me whether I have problems with the route.. And I said yes, I told him where I would need to go and asked him whether he could stop at the stop the girl recommended me and he said yes. So he did, even showed me which street is my street... The time was around 20.40 I think... I started walking and kind of running on the street, just to find out I am walking to the wrong direction, so I turned back and actually started to run and finally found the club...

(And what is that section title? It means 'I won't make it' in Russian – this just could be my motto for everything that happened in this section, I was afraid it so many times. Indeed, crazy decisions involve a lot of stress.)

  1. Best decision ever

I went in, I heard music but recognised it wasn't Kalevala.. I entered and still the support band was playing! I was so incredibly happy I made it! I just ran in the hall, stood in front of Nikita and we kept smiling at each other for seconds and I almost fell to the ground – sitting in one place for four hours means having super numb legs – and I pretty much right away started running, so I was dead after it, I was sitting during all the Woodscream concert, and put my phones to charger, so I wouldn't be completely closed away from the world, and being without phone would be rather dangerous in an unknown city... There I started talking with a Russian guy, and he, as everybody else was also very nice, we had some nice conversation... I realised there wouldn't be too much time to eat anymore so I just ate a beer (here it was 80 rub, as opposed to the 250 rub in SPB...), and the concert already started.

On this concert we were less people, but kind of

OMG, OCTOBER? I HAVE BEEN HERE OVER 5 WEEKS? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? :O

Okay, just for the record. On the 28th of September we made a little trip to the district called Kalamaja to pay a visit to the local garage sale where we mostly didn't buy anything but I got a nice local apple for free. Then, as the Patarei prison, a now not working ex soviet prison closes for the visitors at the end of September, we also decided to go there. Itse asiassa it was our second visit there, because we had the untilnow-most-epic party in Tallinn, with awesome people, great drum'n'bass mixes, booze and just great vibes all over the place, loved it. So now we went to explore the prison. It is 3 to get in, but whatever, it is an experience you don't always get. I can tell you the place was creepy, with broken glasses, prison registers, and black places everywhere.

After this, rather creeped out and hungry, we went into the town centre where we had an awesome elk soup (!) for just two euros, it was very nice - and made even nicer by the atmosphere of the place. It was a little candlelit tavern. I took a picture, but because of the aforementioned reason (and the picture being taken with my camera), not much can be seen. Gotta be back there! Medieval music, dresses, just very nice atmosphere!

Otherwise I am quite okayish, being a maximalist as always, taking more responsibilities than I normally can achieve and then struggling and running and forgetting my head somewhere. Found some babysitter jobs which is very nice. Spain and Russia is awating me.

I don't like autumn, winter is okay once there is snow, but still, I am sad for summer disappearing. So based on the idea of SuomiBlog I am also going to gather a few things which can be liked about this cold period of the year.

1. Snow - Once the snow comes, the landscape turns into a fairytale. It is not only beautiful, but is i very fun to play in the snow.tél.jpg

2. Mulled wine - it is not only suuuper delicious and sweet, but actually makes you warmer from the inside, and it is awesome to start gulping it with your friends.

forralt.jpg

3. Hot chocolate and hot tea. It is nice to just sit down with them and enjoy them.

depositphotos_5601986-set-of-cups-with-hot-drinks.jpg

4. Candlelight. It becomes important to have lights around you once you don't see the sun too much and some nice scented candles can make the atmosphere very nice.

scented-seductive2.png

5. The music of Insomnium (and some other) just feels better in the melancholic darkness. da68_2.jpg

6. I love the atmosphere when it is dark and you see the shiny city lights all around you. Bigcity-feeling. In the winter you get much more of this.

5980552551_de909caa84.jpg

7. I bought the most awesome and suuper pretty looking winter boots. Seriously, these bitches make me wish it was cold winter all the time so I can always wear and enjoy them. :D

IMG_0476.JPG

8. I have a winter cap with Suomi-Finland written on it and it's nice. (Picture is illustration, mine is much nicer, but I don't have it available for a picture now :D)

team_finland_palmikko_pipo_small_1011_22d.jpg

9. Ice-skating. I am not good at it but it's a fun activity to do with friends.

Pictures added at the bottom! :)

Happening, happening,

stuff has been happening

with me.

Right now I am just giving you guys an insight to my life these days, without pictures. Now I am more or less getting used to the life here, which is very busy - I am always that stupid maximalist over-achiever, who wants to aiming high but ends up taking up too much, but still kind of enjoying it - but at the same time, envying those having less. I study 4 languages at the same time and attend the language classes of these + twice a week for 1,5h I have Estonian folk dance classes, in the beginner group of the folk dance ensemble of the university, which makes my schedule already pretty full. When I have some holes in my days, I try to get some weekly shopping done, I wash my clothes, and run some other errands - I still have a lot to do, the Erasmus documents - the Learning Agreement and the Agreement of the financial support is still not ready, I had to run up and down, scan documents, print documents, get them signed, scan them again, send them, print them, post them - this has been going on for so many days. And just to make it even more complicated, I am also running for the Russian visa - but that is more expensive than complicated. I guess I must really love Kalevala if I am going there practically to see them - of course I cannot wait to discover the beautiful city as well, no doubt! Finally my ISIC card seems to be ready - this process was kinda even longer than in Hungary - I sent my application to their e-mail on the second day of the orientation week, then they took like two weeks to reply that until I don't send the money (what money? send? where? nobody wrote about this), they cannot send the card to production and if I would like to get their bank details. Yes, said I in an e-mail. They took another almost one week to send the - incomplete - bank details, without the BIC code that I had to search for myself. Money sent, in some days later I got a reply that the card is ready and I can go for it for some office - where the address was incomplete and it didn't include the letter of the building of the building complex - and I didn't manage to find it. True, their earlier mail included the whole address but that was sent weeks ago... So I ended up going to another part of the city for nothing - or well, almost, because I found some cool shops, and places, among them - a traditional Hungarian restaurant! It was very very unexpected and surprising, but of course heartwarming and the decoration in there is just so nice! I should go there once.

Fortunately, at the weekend of 20-21. September, I had some time to relax and forget about all the worries and the duties. I really feel like I am missing out on all the awesome things - I see all the friends doing things, exploring the city and the surroundings and sometimes I feel I am just wasting some time, while there is so much to explore - and then the cold winter will come and I will have no opportunities. Laziness is going to kill me.

Nevertheless, the past weekend I joined the Autumn Trip of the International Club, around Estonia. It was a two day trip visiting Tartu, Viljandi, Põltsamaa and the areas around them. In the first day we went to the Põltsamaa wine cellar to taste some awesome tasting grape, berry and apple wine, they really taste well and turns out they are also pretty cheap. It is the oldest winemakers in Estonia and the wine is actually taste, and intead of the expected 12-16 eur, a bottle costs only 4 euros in a shop! After this we continued our journey to Tartu where we had a short sightseeing in the old town, in the botanical garden and around the church ruins, and made the day awesome in this old town confectionary with lovely cakes. Then we moved on to Viljandi area to go for our accomodation, which was a guest house in the middle of nowhere - midst a forest in guest house complex, with a sauna. This later, after the dinner, became the most expected and most enjoyed part of our trip.

It was already completely dark and rather cold outside, but 80*C in the sauna. Which was built next to a river, being maybe 10*C cold in this time of the year. It was completely awesome, especially that almost noone got hurt while trying to get down the wooden stairs to reach the water - now I kind of know what it may feel to be blind, because many times we actually did not see our steps. But it was an awesome company, nice warm sauna, refreshing awesome blood boiling cold water, and a never before seen beautiful starry sky! All my life I have lived in cities - areas full of light pollution and I have never ever seen similar - the sky was so beautiful like in a fairytale, just all full of stars! I wish it was warmer, it would have been also a beautiful experience to just be sitting on the grass, star watching, sharing drinks, stories, and laughs - but with the sauna (drinks, stories and laughs included) it was also perfect! Around midnight 3 of us were the last men standing in the sauna, but after it we also decided to hit the shower and then join the party going on in the main building with some dancing and snacks. I was having fun and had some drinks but tried to be responsible and save myself from being extra tired and extra hungover the day after so I went to bed after some dancing.

The next day we went into the city of Viljandi, which, with its 20 000 inhabitants is the 6th biggest city of Estonia, and its folk culture center. For sure this area was the most pleasing-to-the-eye part of the trip - the old castle ruins, the hills, valleys, the suspension bridge and the panorama from the ruins to the lake Viljandi was just beautiful! We had some fun there enjoying this warm late-summer day and finding the most perfect swing ever! Video and pictures later! After having lunch we headed to the Alma-Pedja Nature Reserve and had a two hours long walk in the forest and among fields. Everybody was very tired, but it was a nice walk nevertheless. After this we just went home :)

The program was awesome but very packed, I think all of us could agree that these two weeks rather felt like a week, we did, saw, and experienced so many things. The people were great, I really enjoyed this company, because all the international-oriented, open-minded, mostly-erasmus-people are just awesome, accepting, non-judging, fun, cool and friendly and that is awesome. I think everybody had a blast and I was happy to meet some cool new friends and finally go to the sauna again...

Pics later, now I should write my Lithuanian homework and run to class in 15 minutes. :D

Edit. PICS :D

The weekend was spent with Erasmus programmes. On Saturday we had the ESN Tallinn city game where we had to solve riddles, make fun tasks, and find landmarks of the city, all in the form of a group game, it was very fun. Our group of 12 enthusiastic girls won the 2nd place and we were very close to the 1st, I am proud of us! :) The almost winner team:

983774_10204552911202292_4667529074415063695_n.jpg

After it I was very exhausted and hungry and went to Eat to this awesome place called Eat, where you can get Eat dumplings filled with meat/spinach/potatoes, combined with a salad and a sauce of your choice, for a preeetty good price!

On Sunday I was nerdy, I got up 'early' (around 10 a.m.) to put my laundry and to study some, and then we left for the ESN Tallinn bus tour - they took us on a tour around Tallinn, to the outskirts, to the not so inhabited, sometimes freaky areas, always with a story behind - place where Soviet soldiers lived / where homeless people inhabit forsaken houses / place where people burned their houses / places where whores are gathering not so far from the police station, but we also saw some nice beaches, beautiful sea views, the place where The Singing Revolution took place, and a place with amusement rides. We found out where we can go to an adventure park, wake boarding, base jumping, sledging, or spending a night in the prison!

We took some pictures, which I will post later :)

And then I came home, ate lunch, were lazy, but studied some Lithuanian and Estonian.

I miss the farm.

Now I still have some minutes time and will start the blogpost about my first days. My school started on the 1st of September - the opening ceremony (with wine and cake!) took place this day as well, but there were already courses. Fortunately I only had to go at 10.00 so I some time to sleep - and then went to my first class which happened to be a Russian one, on the level of B1.1. (The level B1 is divided into B1.1 and B1.2). My problem is that I don't have any idea whatsoever, what my level can be...

The level B1.1 definitely seemed to easy, but it is in a good time. We will see what happens. The teacher was nice and while waiting on the corridor, I already met an Estonian girl and we had a nice chat, despite her being Estonian. But well, on the other hand, I am very extroverted (apart from my introvert moments :D), so that helps. Then I went to my Finnish class which was full of Russian students, and a small group. There I met a nice girl too. The class again seems to be below my level, they had actually the same book what we, just they are not as far as we were at home. But they just started their second year and are already there, so they are pretty fast. Also, there is no more advancet option so I will just stay on this course.

After this I went to my Estonian class (we will have intensive Estonian course, five times a week!), which was very fun, we laughed a lot, learned some, and.. the teacher speaks Hungarian! The language is ok.

And aaftteer thiiis, I went to a Lithuanian class. I was a bit concerned because it is not Lithuanian for foreign students but for the locals and I totally won't understand Estonian grammar explanations... But fortunately we were only 3 people in the group, and Estonian, an Italian polyglot (w/ fluent Estonian). This latter agreed to have the class in English but the Estonian guy was like eeeeeeeerm.. So because of him (and sure, because of me), the teacher has (but fortunately is willing) to speak and explain paralelly both English and Estonian. And I actually understood at several points when she was saying something in Estonian! With this I will learn more rapidly, nice! And Lithuanian is coooool.

I got home, did some shopping, washed clothes, had chats and internets and internets and only managed to go to bed at 2. Some insomnia caught me and haven't slept until like 4, and had to wake up at 7.30... No need to tell I felt like shit... But the choco-cino fromthe r-kiosk helped me get back to life and I survived the day pretty well. I decided to attend more Russian curses, to just visit them to see what are they like but I didn't get to know much as the teacher was just mostly speaking about course and exam requirements.

I think the Russian B1.2 would be the best for me, but it is on Mon-Tue-Wed, all at 8.15 and I am soooo not a morning person. I don't think I will ever be able to fall asleep before midnight in a room of 3 other people, and having troubles falling asleep, so I would never have enough sleep... And also, come on, I am on Erasmus, and waking up that early 3 days is unacceptable. So I'll just take the harder or the easier one, we'll see. I would actually like to learn something - even tho the beginner course will sure help as well, because our teacher has a nice accent, and one can always learn more.

EDIT: Right in this moment I got an e-mail. On Wednesday on the Russian B2.1 we wrote a test and I asked the teacher to correct mine earlier so we could see whether the B2.1 course is good for me - she couldn't really believe that I could be on a B1 level after 2 years of university when some people there have studied Russian for 7 years. But ~7 years in secondary school is a different thing from learning it at the university.

So: Добрый вечер!

Which basically means that she looked at my test, I can go to B2.1 because the B1.2 would be too easy for me. I thought so as well, thank you.
Whatever, too much explanation.  Had another Estonian class after two different levels of Russian, got an Erasmus paper done, asked for my Estonian number. Went home, did shopping for homey stuff, met my mentor (she is soooo nice!), and had interesting conversations with the hostel people again...
Today classes again, writing the test, you know the result, and today night is the first practise for the Estonian folk dance group, yay! :)

Just soooo much happening, whoah! This hostel is heaven for me, so many cultures and languages!!! And awesome, open minded, curious people!

I forgot to mention that from the Muslim guy I learned that they pray 5 times a day, and he has an app on his phone that helps saying when does he need to pray - and each session is different, some of them include 5-6 prayers, but for example the night prayer has 13 prayers and is the longest. Before the praying he washes hands, feet and face and puts the rug on the floor so he is clean and is on a clean place.

From the Chinese guy we learned current situations of Chinese, Japanese, USA and also things from the past - like nowadays the USA being friends with Japan is mostly because of China. And that all the horror stories of all those poor Chinese people doing some kind of slave work in horrible factories with miserable lives is not so true!

People are so sweet here, I haven't even been here for a week yet and I already got two notes! I met many travelers, and an Italian guy and a Russian girl left me a note and a postcard that I could search for them on the Internet and we should remain in contact. I am so... err, impressed and happy, this is just so very awesome!

Yesterday... damn, I don't even remember. It is so hard to keep track of events. I couldn't remember where the first Erasmus party followed from the first pub, took me 2 minutes to recall, and totally not because I was drunk but there is just too much data haha, but I am loving it!

So yesterday we visited a huge shopping mall Kristiine Keskus which is better than any else I have seen in town (the whole city seems to be a huge shopping mall haha), and it has Jysk and a huuge supermarket called Prisma, it is like Tesco at home, has shoes and clothes next to food and hygiene stuff and things like this, and I bought new notebooks for school and a pen, omg I like new stuff :) Then we went to the office of population register to ask about another hostel we had found the day before yesterday to ask the ladies that maybe there we could get an ID card. We can't, but in the same office we met two German people, guy and a girl, also on Erasmus and having the same problem with the same hostel. Then we decided to hang around together, went to eat lunch (around 4pm) to this place called EAT that is located in the old town but it is suuuuper cheap. You can get dumplings (little pasta things filled with meat and stuff like that), and you can choose a sauce and veggies to it and you get well fed for like 2,50 eur and if you ate for 3,50 eur, I swear you couldn't fkin move anymore! Awesome, and they have garlic sauce♥ :D Then we decided to hang out some more, we (5 of us) went for a walk in the Old Town (I still don't believe how medieval fairytalishly beautiful it is!), and then ended up on the Town Hall Square where a guy was having this huge soap bubble equipment and made huge soap bubbles and the people were just stopping by, standing there, watching him, gathering around him, and we were like for maybe 40 minutes, sitting on the ground of the main square, enjoying the last days of summer, talking, enjoying our Erasmus time, talking some more and sharing laughs with basically completely stranger persons. Now friends.

Back at the hostel we had pizza and hotdogs and we had a drinking game - I didn't really felt like going out but in the drinking game I had like 2,5 beers (I know, not much, that is not the purpose of saying it haha) - the name of the game is Ring of fire and it is veeeeeery fun, it has great tasks, I enjoyed it. Around midnight or actually no idea what time we went for a pub crawl, I tasted like 3 very weird shots, actually 4, and we visited like 6 bars with the hostel people, it was a very nice evening which ended at..... er, 6... :)

Two day and school starts, omgomgomg :) 4 languages :) Will be interesting. I only have 4 subjects but a very full timetable, I don't like that so much but I think in the second study period I have only one subject?! I am not sure whether that's like that.

Whatever. Erasmus. :D

Oh damn there is so much going on I can't even keep up. So in the hostel you cannot register as a temporary residence and now we are searching for other options, checking out flats, and hostels and thinking about stuff. Too hard to describe but met friendly people which was one. We will see what happens. Today there was the first Erasmus welcome club party with a DJ and all that stuff and I drank enough as to feel like dancing so I enjoyed, and I met some familiar faces, all nice Erasmus people (a very friendly and nice Finnish girl with whom we spoke Finnish^^) and it was cool, and we came home maybe around 3 and kept talking on the corridor of the hostel until 5 in the morning. :)

Also, I am learning so much here, it is incredible. Like today I seriously learned more than one year in my high school. One of my current roommates is a Muslim guy who actually practises his faith and accidentally I saw him praying.. You know, having a rug, standing up, sitting down, bending forward and going that kind of stuff, it was really interesting for me to see... So when he was finished we talked about these things for like an hour. Then later in the afternoon we also had some conversation sessions, mostly my new Lithuanian fate-mate and new friend, the Turkish guy, a new Belgian guy, a guy from Pakistan and they are all open, intelligent, curious, willing to share and listen so it is awesome. We even had some French language lessons, and then we were searching for an Asian and a Chinese guy apperead, who speaks awesome English (and a couple more foreign languages), and is veeery intelligent and also very educated and well informed, knows a lot about the world, sees the connections, is interested in current matters, so had him, and the Pakistani guy who is just also super intelligent and sees things from a different perspective. We were mostly listening to the Chinese guy talk, it was absolutely awesome, we learned a lot, asked, laughed, did stuff in an informal way. Really, I am meeting so many interesting people, and learning so much, I just wish you were here because you would simply love it, together we would explode from happiness by being part of this.

So I went to the uni for the other part of the introduction, we had some more useful information and then this super long academic library tour. But now I atleast know that I will more or less 'live' in that library or maybe in the Study center of the university, because it has free wifi, there it's calm and there is a lot of place to be alone, have privacy, study, do stuff on the internet, and I love the atmosphere of libraries.

Alright so you guys don't really know where I live. The FeelGood Hostel is a hostel located 1 min from the old town and I am going to stay here in a 4 bed shared bedroom. It has its problems but it seems like a nice place.

Today I had my first lunch at one of the university cafeterias and I can tell I had a pretty decent lunch - curry chicken with rice and salad for 3,50 eur, which is still affordable so I am happy :) Compared to Finland's 10 eur it is almost nothing hahahaha... :D

I also went to this shopping hall and I bought beautiful Rieker winter boots (I was already looking at them in Finland) and some grocies in the supermarket. It is so interesting to just go around this supermarket, it is so very different from those at home, so many different things there!

Tomorrow I don't have much to do, I should do further this course applying and I should start doing my residence permit thingies, then movie night and party with the Erasmusers...

Alright there is so much happening that it is damn hard to keep up.

After I wrote the previous blog post, I was about to go to bed, already brushed my teeth but then I ran into these Turkish guys and kept talking to them about history, and languages, and life, and alma (apple) in fkin Turkish is elma and anya (mother) is like ena or something so yeah that is awesome. Then I finally went to bed and had some trouble falling asleep but in the end I managed. I woke up the next morning and as I walked down to the breakfast table I met some Koreans. This is something very lovely about this place, that it is, well, a hostel, where tourists come and go. Yesterday I was talking to German guys, sharing stories, them sharing theirs, me sharing mine, there were moments when everybody was listening to me, I almost even freaked out. So yeah, these Koreans. They are doing some kind of Nordic tour, and were staying here for some time. We had a rather interesting conversation - they were very kind and their level of English was just enough to speak about things. They told me they come from Soul, which is a city of 10 million, but with public transport you can reach the other end in maybe 1,5h, because there are a lot of skyscrapers, so the territory shouldn't be that big I guess. But with car - 'you don't even want to imagine'. I was asking them about European - Asian differences, and they said that in Korea you don't really see so many people on the streets just walking around, because they are much busier than the Europeans - either working or partying - no time for sleeping. So I asked them that maybe they see Europeans as lazy because of this - but they said they actually envy us for being able to relax... :)

Then I went to the university, I searched for the bus stop but haven't found it so in the end with this Polish roommate we just decided to walk there and it was totally walking distance, even though we were quite hurrying as to be on time but we totally made it. The first information session was very long and I was very hungry, haha. They told us about the school system, the campus, the buildings, the city security, the health care system, but in like 4 hours, very slowly - it totally could have been done in maybe 1,5 hours. I found my Hungarian and other Polish friends, we srvived the second information session and then went to sign up for a Tallinn University account where I met a Finnish guy, a Turkish girl and just lots of people I am not even recalling. One of the funniest sentences of the morning was when this British guy was making a presentation about Estonian culture and fitting in - "In the winter the sun gets up only at 10 a.m. - even later than students."

I came home, did stuff, applied for the ISIC card (still sooooo much shit to do, omg. :D), went for the movie night, didn't find that bus again so ended up walking with this Turkish guy and we weren't even MUCH late, haha. We watched some super fucked up weird but very interesting art movies and headed for the ESN Welcome party. I met some very nice people again, and some more Turkish people and I just ended up being surrounded by Turkish people and even got a new name hahah. We had some beers and headed for another bar where with this Russian-American guy we planned to do karaoke (nooo, alcohol didn't have aaaaany role in that), but for hours we couldn't fucking decide what to sing so we ended up not singing, but being there was still a big party hahahah :D

This is the most perfect side of Erasmus, people from all different countries, speaking all these different languages, most of them I can surprise by speaking their language hahahaha... And you can just listen to the stories of people... :) Around 1.30 we just decided to head home, instinctly we chose all the good directions and came here without problems. Then ended up talking until 3am with Erdi haha:)

I should head for the orientation again in 15 minutes..

Hi from Estonia!

Today I left Helsinki at 11.00 after a rather insomnic night. When boarding the Viking Line ferry I was rather afraid, I am not at all used to seas and ferries, it was even more scary than the airport. But in the end all went fine and I found my way onboard along with more hundreds of people. :D For like half an hour I sat on the open part of the board, looking at passing Helsinki and passing Soumenlinna and all the islands. There was an island like 100 m2, and there was a house in it, some people sure appreciate loneliness and private sphere! :D :D

Then I went inside, searched for an electric plug, sat on the floor - people withotu booked cabins just sat everywhere - stairs, chairs, windows, etc, it was nice :D An had my lunch.

Cozy, ain't it?

201408241506.jpg

I wasn't bored during the 2h40min, the 11 story tall huge ferry is like a hotel, a casino, a supermarket, a spa and just everything in once, it's incredible!

When I arrived there was nobody waiting for me and my hand was breaking off because I had to pull my 20+kg suitcase for long minutes and it was really hurting :( Then I just decided to ask for a taxi, I asked in Russian and got a Russian reply that it's 8 eur to the hostel so I decided to go for it.

I arrived, checked in, everybody seemed so very nice!

I instantly got to know a guy in the dormitory room. The first week I will spend in a 12 room shared room and then I will move to the 4 bed room where I will permanently spend my next 5 months. I have met this Polish guy who speaks some Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Estonian, English, it's awesome, we constantly had conversations with mixing languages.

Then I decided to go out to explore which resulted in going around the Old Town of Tallinn, which is simply BEAUTIFUL. Also, the experience was also something very interesting... yesterday I was in the farm buildings with the cows and today I am living alone in a tooootally new country, suddenly it is Tallinn and I can go to explore and everything is new and I am free.. . Wow.

I found my way to the Main Square and there was a folk ensemble playing traditional Estonian music - last semester I have participated on an university course called Nordic Dances so I kind of know and enjoy such music, it was a very nice welcome for me! Then I went to this shopping center part of the town called 'Viru Keskus', and shopped grocies.

Then I went to meet this Hungarian girl who I already knew from the internet, who lives in one of the universtiy dormitories. After like 6 minutes phone talk of trying to find each other we finally did and headed to her dorm. There the Erasmus feeling almost immediately got us! I got to know like 6 Poles at the same time and atleast two of them will be my groupmates :)

Then we came back to the hostel, finally had a shower, ate dinner and now I am hanging out in the common room with these nice international people :)

Tomorrow first information day. I should figure out how to get to the uni. :D Even tho I have walked a loooot and it seems kind of easy.

So today I shot a little video for myself - 10 minutes, without sound, recording my way outside my room and the house into the woods... :) As a little memory. Then walked in the forest listening to Moonsorrow's half an hour long Tuleen Ajettu Maa and strolled, and strolled. In 14*C. In a single thin t-shirt. I wasn't colt, I felt it getting me, but I felt alive, not cold. And I was visually consuming the wonderful nature around me.... It was very good. The track is... heavy.

Tomorrow I am leaving this country. It has been nice. I have very ambient feelings. Sometimes it has been hard with the kids and I feel it was enough. But on the other hand, which is the positive one, and way bigger, I loved the life here, I loved the place, I will miss the life and I will miss the place. Three months have gone very far (even though some 4 hour long morning shifts with the children just seemed neverendingly long), it seemed like "whoah I am going to Finland for the whole summer", but it was actually not much time. Time passes so fast, cold goes away, warmth comes, the berries start to ripe, then wheat ripes and gets reaped and it is autumn.

This place got a part in my heart, this place became a part of mine. Egy kicsikét az enyém lett. I gave a piece of myself to this place and now we are each others' in a small amount. I become attached too easily and of course I got attached very fast too as well. I am totally sentimental about leaving this wonderland. I will miss the sounds, the noises, I will miss the smells. I will miss the piece, the forest walks, this beautiful farm with cute cowy cows, I will miss Remu, I will miss joking around with my host father, I will miss my adorable host mum who is one of the most beautiful persons I have ever met, let me just now keep the reasons for myself. This place took things from me and gave me things, and I tried to give this place things and now we are being separated. I will miss the feeling of long summer nights. I will miss staring at sunlight after midnight. I will miss having a dog. I will miss that mysterious something that's in the air up here north. It is very hard to put my feelings into words, that's why this blogpost is shitty.

Anyway, new adventures DO await me (that's why now there is a hurry with these posts because I reckon I won't have anyt time), the Erasmus adventure awaits me and in Tallinn I will probably have as much fun as I never had. I'm boarding the ferry on the 24th at 11 am. and be in Tallinn at 13.40... And still don't know who picks me up, but I have maps, public transport connections, taxi numbers and everything, will be nice. I am curious about what the place I will live it will be like (FeelGood Hostel, you better be awesome:)) and I am curious about my other 3 roommates (or well, one I already know and she seems more than OK, so let's see. I hope for some speakers of the languages I will be studying or am interested it. But well, any are good, just be dark and silent in the night, ehh..  >.<)

I am already looking forward to the first ESN programs, I hope I will fit in.... Just be cool :P

Random from Lahti

When one lives in the countryside, doing huge shopping means a big city, and from here it's worth to go to Jyväskylä or to Lahti. Some randomness for the huuuuge department stores (everything in the same place, not in individual boutiques, I haven't really seen many of these at home)

Of course I had to serve my polyglot passion in a restaurant that had a blackboard and a chalk :)

The sauna department in the store. Just so you don't forget which country you're in.

Mummolassa

2014/08/23. - írta: Vitzus

So on 16th August I wasn't sleeping in my own bed because we went to visit the grandma and we spent the night there! I found some nice things. It was nice to get to know some more countryside houses, buildings, both of mummo and her other daughter, to see saunas and lakes and all that... :)

So, this is how Kalevala should be read!

Punaviinimarja and valkoviinimarja. Always a lot to forage, and it seems neverending :)

View outside from the mökki. Actually just a sauna with a living room. The Finnish dream.

Some scouts were wandering around onfoot in the Finnish wilderness and the Mummo let them in to the mökki for overnight, this is the note they left
